Welcome! Pull up a comfy chair, and maybe a glass of wine if you taught today! I am not sure if anyone ever actually reads these “about” sections on websites (especially teachers with little time on their hands), so if you’re here…I am humbled by your interest and would give you a warm welcome of a hug if I could.
I hope you enjoy taking a look around my website! My goal for this site is to share ideas and resources that will hopefully help enrich your classroom, and to put it simply- just help save you some time and make your life easier. I’ve got nothing against hard work, but the phrase “work smarter not harder” rings true when you work in education.
I’ve taught second grade for 15 years, and have always enjoyed creating things to use with my own students. I would often share those things with co-workers to use as well, and one day, someone made a casual comment about how I should try doing Teachers Pay Teachers. That casual comment ended up turning into a drastic life change…fast forward four years later, and it has become a huge passion of mine! So much so that I’ve also started my own shop on my website.
In the teacher entrepreneur world, people often talk about having a “niche” or a subject area that they specialize in and primarily create resources for. That’s really hard for me to pin down, because I just love so many aspects of teaching! So I guess I am kind of a “rule breaker” (whoa, teachers gone wild here) 😉 in the sense that I choose to create resources for a wide range of areas…everything from core academic subjects to social emotional learning, and anything from classroom management to stuff that is just plain FUN! If I had to try and choose a favorite though, I especially enjoy making engaging, hands-on games for literacy and math.
During this journey, I have also been inspired to write children’s books for the classroom. Our Class is a Family and A Letter From Your Teacher: On the First Day of School have been my works of heart. My hope is that they help teachers with all that they do to build class community and positive relationships with students. I can’t wait to share more picture books with you in the future.
