ADAPTED BOOK COMPANION for kindergarten, 1st grade ADAPTED BOOK COMPANION for kindergarten, 1st grade, or any students who just need more writing support! ✏️

This is the modified version of my original extension activity for A Letter From Your Teacher on the First Day of School.

After listening to the read aloud, students write a “letter” to their teacher in response, in the form of a booklet that provides writing prompts- swipe to see a few of the pages included 👀

Just like the original companion, the prompts are cohesive with the book for making those text connections.

But the sentence frames are simpler, have dotted writing lines, and come with the added option of “mini books,” cut in half to save paper.

I thought some teachers might want both versions of this activity (to be able to differentiate for the diverse levels of writers in your class), so they’re in a discounted bundle when you grab them together! 👌🏼

More details about this resource are in the the link in my profile, or just comment below if you’d like me to message you the link directly! 📬💌

Back to School Jenga with get to know you question Back to School Jenga with get to know you questions for building class community (this game is editable too)! 👏🏼💕

It’s also a fun intro to an engaging game for centers (or a choice for kids who finish their work early) that can be used all year long!

I have tons of games for math (with grade level bundles for K-3), phonics, sight words, & grammar…and they’ll all be 25% off during the back to school TPT sale this coming week (Tues & Wed)! 🥳

Prep once and you’re good to go- just switch out the game cards for different skills all year! 👌🏼

And what’s nice is that once your kids know how to play Jenga, they’ll know how to play it themselves the rest of the year…no matter what skill is being practiced with the cards.

One less center to have to plan for & explain to the kids each week! 💃🏻

No matter how amazingly you set your class up for No matter how amazingly you set your class up for success at the beginning of the year, at some point there are bound to be kiddos who may need a little extra support in the behavior department.

So it’s a good idea to have a plan in advance for when that happens! 👌🏼
⠀⠀⠀
Fix-It Tickets are a constructive way to encourage self-reflection. Rather than just tell a student what they are doing wrong, it can be more effective to have them be the one to evaluate their own behavior and think about WHY they should work to fix it. ⠀⠀⠀

After they fill this out, it can be used as a jumping off point for discussion when you talk privately with them about how they can make it right.

You could also send it home if you choose, to work together with parents/families at home and help keep clear communication.
⠀⠀⠀
These are editable, so you can customize to meet your class’ needs. They’re in my web shop & TpT store, or get them for FREE when joining my email list 😊💌

All the details (and links) are in my blog post about this resource, which is linked in my profile.

You can also comment below if you’d like me to message you the direct link, just know that my reply may be a little delayed since I’m out of the country right now! 💛
