Description
This resource has everything you need to start your own classroom economy for classroom management. It helps with real-life math and social skills and encourages responsibility. Students can earn class money for demonstrating positive behavior, and they have to pay money in certain instances too, such as not following behavior expectations or not being responsible with materials (for example, if they left the cap off their glue stick, they have to pay to buy a new one).
Also, a fun & motivating event that the kids get to do once a month is THE CLASS MALL! This is an alternative to a treasure box or class store where the teacher buys prizes. Students still shop with their earnings, but they have the option to pay rent to buy a space for their own store. They get to choose what to sell! Although parents are welcome to purchase items for their child’s store (stickers, dollar store type items, etc.) the included parent letter explains that there is NO pressure to buy anything!
Here are some examples of items that past students have sold:
-Old toys and books (spring cleaning, anyone?)
-Make your own items (paintings/drawings, origami, etc.)
-Carnival type games for kids to pay to play
-Petting zoo (student brought in stuffed animals)
-Music entertainment (child played a song on his toy guitar for $1)
Students love being creative! Many kids also like to make their own price tags or price list signs.
Here is what is included with this resource:
-Detailed teacher guidelines and suggestions for how to implement this classroom management system
-Letter to send home to parents that explains the classroom economy and The Class Mall
-Letter to parents to notify them when their child has purchased rent for a store
-Price lists for infractions (ready-to-print and editable versions included)
-Ready-to-print money ($1, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 bills)
-Money that can be customized with the teacher’s face on the bills (same amounts as listed above). See preview for an example.
All of the parent letters and the price lists include EDITABLE versions.
