Custom Keychains: Student Gift Idea for Back to School, Holiday, or End of Year

I always like to send my students home with a small treat of some sort on the first day of school. It’s an exciting day, but it can be nerve-wracking for many kids. So it’s my little way of not only saying, “Yay, you survived!” but “Yay, that was a FUN day!” Welcome to our class community!

Last year, my kids were obsessed with these little keychains that they could earn for selling school fundraiser items. They loved to collect and attach them to the zippers on their backpacks. So I figured special keychains would make for a great back to school gift! The plastic keychains are available at Hobby Lobby and also on Amazon.

Here are a couple of examples of templates to fit inside the keychains, some with text and some with images. I like to copy the ones with text only on Astrobrights color paper.

Then all you have to do is cut out the circles and pop them into the keychains. You can cut them by hand, or save time with a circle paper craft punch. Pretty simple!

You can find these same keychain design templates right here in my shop, and you can also find them in my Teachers Pay Teachers store. They include editable templates so that you can customize them for your own class.

This unique gift is sure to be a hit with your kiddos! Wishing you a happy back to school season coming up!
