Description
This bundle includes BOTH versions of the book companions for A Letter From Your Teacher: On the First Day of School by Shannon Olsen. One is the original version, and the other adapted version has sentence frames and more simplified writing prompts for beginning writers.
Why might you need a set of both versions? You may decide that you need to differentiate for the levels of student writers in your class. It will also allow you to accommodate any student on an IEP who may need modified writing assignments. You might also want to have a set of both if you anticipate possibly changing grade levels in the future.
These are booklets of writing prompts (or “letters”) for students to write in response to their teacher after listening to a read aloud of the story. The pages can be copied and stapled together in a packet, or however you might choose to bind them. You can use all of the pages provided, or just pick and choose specific ones you want to include.

-2 book cover options (boy and girl)
-Greeting page with space for an illustration of student and teacher
-Multiple pages of “get to know you” writing prompts that connect with the book, with spaces for students to illustrate:

-The adapted version for beginning writers also comes with the option of half-page templates, which can be cut in half to save paper and used to create mini books.
-Writing page templates, in case you would like to have students write an actual letter in the traditional letter-writing format. These pages could also be utilized for a writing center at a later time in the school year. Pages with primary dotted writing lines and regular writing lines are provided to meet the needs of your students.
