Your students can practice finding the main idea and supporting details of a text with this engaging Close Reading and Craftivity all about American hero Rosa Parks. Great activity for Black History Month or Women’s History Month.
Students will do a close reading of the passage where they can annotate the text to help them identify the main idea and details. They will then get to do a craftivity where they make the iconic Rosa Parks bus. Students write the main idea and details, illustrate/color the passengers riding in each of the windows, and assemble the bus by cutting and pasting.
Also comes with Rosa Parks final draft writing stationary if you would also like to have your students write about Rosa Parks after reading the passage.
