Description
This is a whole school year’s worth of weekly Morning Meeting slides for building classroom community! It has text connections to the books Our Class is a Family and both A Letter From Your Teacher books by Shannon Olsen.
You can call it either “Class Family Friday” (if you have your class use this on Fridays) or “Class Family Fun Day” (if you choose a different day of the week than Friday).
Class Family Fridays/Fun Days have a focus in building class community, positive student relationships, and social emotional learning.
If you already do daily Morning Meetings, this can be a “special edition” type of Morning Meeting for your class to look forward to once a week.
If you don’t currently do Morning Meetings regularly and find it difficult to work them into your daily schedule, this is a great way of helping to still make time for intentional community building on a regular basis!
The slides for each week include a:
Letter from the Teacher
An editable slide where you can type a quick note to students- it could be about something you’re learning about, a special event coming up, a little pep talk, etc.
Class Family Quote
A community building quote that can be read aloud. You might choose to have students respond to or discuss the quote, verbally and/or in writing.
Class Family Fun
A community or social emotional building activity that is highly engaging, but low prep. It will either require no materials or just a couple of common classroom materials. Once in a while a printable may also be needed, and is provided.
Class Family Conversation
A discussion question that allows students to bond, get to know one another better, share opinions, reflect, etc.
All slides are provided in both PowerPoint & Google Slides. There are 2 versions included- one set says “Class Family Friday” and the other says “Class Family Fun Day.”

- Detailed guidelines complete with tips, suggestions, etc.
- Slide decks that can be used on Fridays for 40 weeks

- An editable template in case you would ever like to customize slides with your own quotes, activities, and conversation questions
- A few of the Class Family Fun activities include Teacher Printables. A page that can be copied for the whole class, or a helpful “cheat sheet” of ideas for your reference only.
- Student Response Sheets, in case you’d ever like to add a written component to your Class Family Friday (personal written response to the quote & conversation topic before students share aloud with the group).
More holidays may be added to the Bonus Slide Decks in the future. Once you already own the resource, you will be able to re-download it to get those future Slide Decks for free! Here are the holidays/seasons that are currently included:
